In een artikel op de website van Links Magazine noemt Thomas Dunne de baan van De Pan een “sleeper” (een relatief minder bekend meesterwerk) van “The Greatest Golf Architect of All Time: Harry Colt”.
Harry Colt staat in een oude editie van Links Magazine uit 2013 bovenaan de ranglijst van de “25 greatest architects of all time”. In een artikel beschrijft Thomas Dunne het ontwerpfilosofie van Colt. Hij geeft ook aan wat hij de beste baan, de meest representatieve baan en de beroemdste hole van Colt vindt. En onder het kopje “Sleeper” (een onverwachte hit) schrijft hij:
“In the 1920s and ’30s, Colt and Alison regularly crossed the English Channel to develop links on the North Sea coastlines of France (Le Touquet), Belgium (Royal Zoute), and Holland (Kennemer, Royal Hague). In the Dutch interior, Colt found a swath of Surrey-esque heathland at Utrechtse Golf Club. One highlight of that course, known as “de Pan,” is the superb short par-four 10th, which calls for an approach threaded between a pair of tall, scrub-covered mounds.”
Dunne is samen met Lawrence Donegan oprichter van het prachtige golfblad McKellar Magazine. De Pan staat in de Top 50 van Nederlandse golfbanen op de tweede plaats.
